Green Eyes and Blue Jeans

At 15….. I was in awe of how perfectly his jeans molded his body……..his Levis. Then, I looked up….into his sexy green eyes.

At 26…..I fell for his cowboy boots and jeans……his Wranglers. Then, I looked up…into his soulful green eyes.

At 33…..I was mesmerized by his six-pack abs and his jeans…his Levis. Then, I looked up…..into his smoldering green eyes.

Three separate decades. Three pairs of jeans. Three pairs of green eyes. Three men that taught me how to FEEL like a woman.

Lord, save me from those green eyes and blue jeans!!

Cappuccino Memories

♥♥♥French vanilla cappuccino in my hands tantalizes my taste buds with its rich aroma. A flavor I know all too well, even though it’s been years since my last cup. I wait patiently for it to cool, and my thoughts begin to drift. Before long I am in a place and time twelve long winters ago. The winter my love affair with this delicious treat began. ♥♥♥Several times a week I would stop in the local convenient store and purchase two cups of this frothy taste of heaven. One for myself, and one for you. Our shared treat gave us shared conversations. Chats from the mundane all the way to the very most profound. Our shared treat gave us shared laughter. Sometimes a short giggle and other times laughter that made my sides ache. Our shared treat gave us a friendship and a love that has never been casual and has forever been life altering.

I have not seen you in over a decade, and yet every cappuccino I smell reminds me of those days so very long ago. And of you, our friendship, and what might have been. My cappuccino memories……YUMMY!!!

When you gaze into your own eyes & into the depths of your very soul—-are you proud of what you see? Not have you lived a perfect life. Not have you made horrible mistakes. Not do you have a good job and make lots of money. Not do you have lots of friends. When you are bare, raw, and REAL with yourself as you cannot be with anyone else–do you like yourself?

Sunday Morning on CBS just ended. 421 with Nakia. Baby is sleeping. Kids and Kia are outside finishing the clubhouse roof. Doing laundry. Downloading music. Making grocery list. Need to sweep. Taking 5 for ME! I just had an “I love myself” moment. I was about to fold the pile of towels on my bed when I caught a glimpse of my butt in the mirror. In my favorite well-worn Levi’s. Pink fuzzy slippers, black t-shirt, and standard ponytail. For once, I didn’t notice my lack of make-up, or the zit on my forehead, or the 10lbs I’d like to lose, or the many other flaws I inevitably focus on. In that 5-10 seconds I loved myself (okay, my butt). Usually, I’m too busy to take time to truly love myself. AND, I have a cute butt!! Who knew? Not THE cutest, but certainly in the top 20%. I’ll take that! It’s a bit wider than I’d like, but it goes with the wide hips. And the hips go with my wide shoulders. And the shoulders are a must for the load I carry as mother of four kids. Thank you, God, for making me all that I am and all that I will be someday.

TOO MUCH OF A FLIRT

Flirt according to Webster is to behave amorously without serious intent. Apparently, it is a lost concept. One of the characteristics I adore about my fiance, Nakia, is that he is as much of a flirt as I am. We both understand that it is simply being playful, not an attempt to covet someone else. Too many people are misled by this flirting, even when it is openly discussed as just that–flirting. Maybe I am too good at it? Do I make others sometimes feel too good with the off-handed comments I make? I love the smiles, the laughs, and the good memories that flirtatiousness lends the day. But, I sure hate the drama that sometimes follows it. Whether that be a spouse’s mistrust due to these silly comments, or the unintended deeper feelings evoked in another. It is so much of who I am as a person, this flirting behavior. I flirt with women as well as men, single, married, gay, lesbian, black, white, yellow, purple (well, I would if I met a purple being!), native american, asian, doctor, homeless, 49er fan, cowboy fan, country music lover, rap lover, polka music lover…….the only people I don’t flirt with are the chronically stupid people (and they already stopped reading this). I just read this to my ex husband, Steve, and he asked why I feel the need to defend myself? I don’t. I feel the need to educated those around me and prevent any future misunderstandings if at all possible. So, in brief…I AM A FLIRT!
